You punch the holes where you want them after shrinking. We used to sell with pre-punched holes years ago but experience has taught us that is foolish, especially when the holes are pre-punched every inch which only weakens the tubing unnecessarily, plus it is a pain to align the holes while shrinking. You don't need holes every single inch but if you want that perhaps just on one end, you decide. Summit stands with cable in lieu of chain have lugs only every 4" and they work great. The photo shows holes punched in this manner and it works great. Pre-punched holes are a pain to get aligned while heating and create unnecessary weak areas in the tubing. We know our tubing, this is the best tubing you can buy for your stand. This black shrink tubing is flexible, durable and excellent quality; equal to or better than original tubing. All you need to do is to pull the chain into the shrink tubing with wire or string, apply heat, and you’re done. The best way to heat it is with a heat gun but you can use a propane torch or other means.  This shrink tubing will fit all API stands including models with #2040 chain.
